Steven
Reisner,
Ph.D. has
been on the core faculty of the International Trauma Studies
Program/NYU for the past four years. He is Adjunct Professor
in the Program in Clinical Psychology, Columbia University, Teachers
College and at the New York University Medical School. His publications
have appeared, recently, in the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic
Association, Psychoanalytic Dialogues, and Studies in Gender
and Psychoanalysis. Dr. Reisner is currently finishing a book
on clinical, cultural and international responses to trauma, From
Tears to Acts of Revenge: Psychoanalysis and Trauma, to be published
by Other Press. In addition, Dr. Reisner is the director of Theater
Arts Against Political Violence, which has helped create works
of theater with Tibetan, Chilean and Kosovar survivors of torture
and exile in New York and in Kosovo. Most recently he was a member
of the Downtown Community Resource Centers theater project,
acting in Everythings Back to Normal in New York
City! Below Canal: A Work in Progress. Formerly,
Dr. Reisner was Chief Psychologist at Regent Hospital in New York
City and, in an earlier career, was an Obie-winning theater director
and actor, whose projects were performed at the Public Theater,
La Mama E.T.C., Theater for the New City, and on tour in North and
South America.
